This article analyzes the effects of overcrowding at the São Paulo Prison Hospital, in Luanda, in the year 2024, focusing on parameters such as the safety, health, and human rights of inmates. The research was motivated by the identification of critical problems resulting from overcrowding, which compromise the quality of health services and violate the fundamental rights of inmates, including safety, control, health and well-being. The overall objective is to assess the impacts of overcrowding on prisoners' rights, identify the main consequences and propose mitigating measures. Methodologically, a field research with a mixed approach was conducted, using techniques and instruments that allowed the collection of relevant data. The results indicate that overcrowding significantly affects the parameters analyzed, corroborating the need for urgent interventions to improve the conditions of the prison hospital. It is concluded that overcrowding not only compromises the health of prisoners, but also aggravates security issues and human rights violations, requiring immediate and effective action.
