Abstract

This theoretically based article sought to understand the extent to which strategic alliances can guarantee competitive advantage in the Angolan poultry sector with a view to reducing the import rate. For data collection, bibliographic and documentary research was used based on the available record of articles written in Portuguese on a subject, where the scarcity of studies related to the formation and consolidation of national and international partnerships in this sector is a fact. Some alliances established between associations and cooperatives of local producers without evidence of international partnerships. There is indeed a need to establish alliances at local level to make the sector strong and competitive and thus ally with international suppliers. The experience of the cases narrated in the text, most of which involves obtaining sophisticated technology from more experienced companies, the absorption and use of more modern management techniques, appears to provide productivity gains in the medium and long term, and guarantee a competitive advantage.
