Abstract

The scriptural work of Jose Marti has been studied by various specialists from different approaches. The plurality of perspectives is not a forced question, it is justified by the universality of his thought. It seems that everything has been said about who is one of the founders of Latin Americanist thought, however, each time key elements are found to reinterpret history and configure a present devoid of mistakes already made, which ensures a qualitatively superior future. Studies about Marti, generally, highlight his work as a political organizer in favor of independence and in the literary field they recognize his gifts as a speaker, essayist, narrator and ability as a poet, which earned him to be considered one of the main exponents of the modernism, and even for some the founder. On this occasion, it has been proposed as an objective to analyze how Marti's criticism is manifested when the writer moves away or approaches the ethical behavior that he prescribes. It is aware that in Marti´s works only partial ideas of what he understands by ethics are found.
