Academic and scientific categorization is a strategic objective for the scientific development of universities and leads to the identification of professors with aptitudes and attitudes for research with the social commitment of those already categorized for promotion to higher categories. It is a fundamental process for the recognition and accreditation of competent professionals. It is essential that institutions promote an environment conducive to scientific development and the well-being of teachers. The aim of this article is to reflect on the importance of academic and scientific accreditation of university lecturers for increasing the quality of higher education in Angola, in the context of the country's complex socio-economic scenario.
