Theoretical-Conceptual Foundations for a Study on the Prevention of Crime and Violence
Keywords:

Crime and violence cause insecurity and great concern in any society, due to their harmful effects on the victims, their families, the community and the individuals involved in these acts. Various theoretical approaches indicate that violent and criminal behaviors are generally learned from an early age, where the groups to which they belong and the social and family contexts play a transcendental role. That is why the prevention of these phenomena is prioritized in the political agendas of most countries and entities at the global level, from which a series of international instruments have been derived that emphasize respect for the rule of law and protection of vulnerable populations. In Cuba, there has been an increase in crimes associated with violence, where the growing impact of social networks has wreaked havoc, especially among minors and young people after the mandatory confinement for almost two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. This article deals with the theoretical and conceptual systematization of a set of approaches, theories and basic models for the study of crime and violence prevention in the Cuban social context.
